- The North Dakota State Auditor’s Office has launched the Office of Good Government to assist local governments with financial reporting, offering free education and training to smaller municipalities on accounting practices. - North Dakota’s Legislative Council plans to hire 25 additional staff during 2025-27, including policy analysts and program evaluators, to strengthen legislative oversight and assess the effectiveness of state programs. According to Director John Bjornson, the new policy and program evaluation division will support all legislative committees and assist the Legislative Task Force on Government Efficiency in reviewing initiatives such as child care investments. The expansion will increase the Council’s staff from 45 to 70 and includes additional office space in the Capitol, despite a veto by Gov. Kelly Armstrong on a related space provision.
